Making Connections: Association between what you have read and your own prior knowledge
Three types of connections: Texts to Texts; Texts to Self; Texts to World
For Example in stanza 7:
Suddenly, you're eleventh teeth old
and you have grown, like Lazarus,
younger beneath moonlight
Here, Harvey is referencing a Dr Who episode where the character goes into a machine and comes out younger. The original Lazarus is from a story in the Bible where Jesus raises him from the dead.
This example is Text to World connection that Harvey has made, what is your interpretation in stanza 7?
- I interpreted stanza 7 as being something from a Greek mythology story. I thought Lazarus was a God of Youthfulness because of the last line.
